Noelle's 5th Birthday

How is this girl 5? And how am I just now posting this blog? Well, y'all already know how I do so no need to explain. Life has gotten pretty busy with adding another member to our family and now deciding to move back home to Orlando, so in an attempt to catch up I'm going to be posting updates on all these girls!

On January 31st, our girl turned 5 years old! I was happy to goodbye to 4 because it was quite the year with this little lady. The sass has been out of control and always fighting for the last word. The drama and water works were turned on almost daily. But we have already seen better days!!!

Noelle LOVES school and loves her baby sister even more. She is so helpful and is getting better at cleaning up after herself (with much promoting).

Talk Nelly To Me

I thought it was high time for an update on my big girl. At the end of August she will be 4 and a half. Time is moving entirely too fast and with the coming of another baby, I want to make sure I'm still showing her love on the blog and documenting all the crazy and memorable things she says.

SASS-A-FRAS

I don't think there's any other way to describe Noelle right now. I think we're having more issues listening than any other time before. We've been through some stages but this selective hearing phase is wearing on my patience! And the eating, holy cow the eating!! Why does every meal take an hour and a half to finish? Begging her to eat every single bite of food, it's exhausting. As challenging as she is at the moment, she says the sweetest things to me. She is so complementary to me and I love it! I'm the best mommy, cooker, and a host of other things. I hope she remembers this at 14 years old.

Talk NELLY To Me

You guys!!! I've missed this space so much! These days it is hard to get here without being distracted with all that is going on in the background. And honestly just trying to balance being present for my girls as much as I can. It's been a minute since we've done an install of my girl and her sayings, so I will try not to laugh too hard as I type these. I promise we don't endorse some of these, I'm just letting you know now!

Noelle's 4th Birthday

We decided not to have a party for Noelle this year. We toyed with the idea but in the end decided to take her Great Wolf Lodge in Colorado Springs, CO. She was not very happy about not having a party. She woke up couple mornings before her birthday and asked me why I hadn't started decorating yet. I tried explaining but she wasn't having it. The day before her birthday we took her to her school to celebrate with her classmates. They sang happy birthday and ate the cupcakes we brought.

Talk Nelly To Me

There's a star in our midst and she's blissfully unaware of all the attention she has been receiving. Though yes, she will absolutely tell you "I'm famous" if you start to discuss the video. She knows she was on the Ellen show and will also mention that as well. This video has gone beyond what we could ever imagined it would. But in our house, we are still dealing with a newly turned three year old with lots to say and opinions to give.

Noelle's 3rd Birthday Party

Happy Birthday to our Nelly, our sour patch kid is 3 years old today!!! To celebrate I'm sharing the pics from her princess themed party this weekend. Noelle has recently been certified princess crazy and is all about the crowns, gowns and shoes that come with playing dress up. So when it was time to search for a theme, the choice was pretty obvious. Obvious like being asked to have a princess party several times over. After spending hours on Pinterest, I was able to turn our living room into a royal dress up party with princess popcorn to match the occasion.

The red carpet idea from Pinterest was just too much to pass up, I had to do it. There were stations for the kids to go around and pick up all their necessities to become royals. I made sure to provide the guys with swords and gliders to keep them busy as well.

Talk Nelly To Me

Fearless and witty. Sour and sweet. Noelle is a real life sour patch kid! She says some of the most outlandish things to be ALMOST three.

Talk NELLY To Me

Lord ya'll what am I gonna do with this girl?! We have moved into new territory and one that has me wondering how in the world we will survive the year of the "threenager" that will soon come upon us! Noelle is all spice and a dash of something nice. Don't get me wrong, she is still as sweet as pie when she wants to be, but those moments are seeming to be taken over by looks that could kill. She is challenging me on everything and I am trying so hard to not grow weary. I try so hard not to burst into laughter as she counters with wit that belongs to someone 6 times her age or respond to her with pure anger.

Talk NELLY To Me

Two years old has to be on of the best ages EVER! Yes it comes with temper tantrums (thank God we have very few of those) and declarations of independence which result in complete defiance but she is so funny!!!! I cannot get over the leaps and bounds that she makes in language and perception daily. There is NEVER a dull moment with this one and she keeps Tj and I on our toes. We just look at each other in amazement at times at what she's able to grasp. I could probably write a book on the new things she's saying but I'll break down some of our favorites below.

One of her favorite things to do is sing and dance and if you follow my snapchat (mrshazleybaby) then you see it on my stories regularly. When she's really in a groove, she refuses to do it alone and simply reaches out her hand and says "dance with me mama" or "dance with me daddy".

It's so funny when they learn the concept of sorry. And dad's way of saying it is the way she's decided to go about it. If she does something we told her not to do and it ends up bad it's hard to get upset with her because she hits you with the "sorry bout that".

All my friends know that I have always vowed never to call my children princess or prince, just a pet peeve of mine. Well Noelle has become a self proclaimed princess dubbing herself, "I'm princess Nelly". Well there goes that!

She has been curious about names recently asked her dad and I what ours were. After she learned them, she says, "Tj, We-ah, Nelly, we are family". I just about died.

Sometimes we have no idea where this stuff comes from. For at least two weeks, she found any reason to ask "what's going on here?" and now we have moved on to "what you doing?". Tj told me recently that they were riding the mall bus and he asked her what she was doing, she replied "oh, just looking at people".

Her imagination is growing like a weed and she loves telling me stories about going to Mars and Earth on a rocket ship. How she goes to work and comes right back. She's the furthest thing from shy and loves meeting new people. She is already giving her "sesster" hugs, kisses, pounds and high fives in the womb. Love this girl!!!

Talk NELLY To Me

Things are moving so fast over here! Noelle is doing something new everyday and saying new phrases that have Tj and I constantly asking each other "did you hear her?". She is so entertaining and we get a kick out of something she does daily. We recently had the conversation about how amazing this stage is. We are just in awe of her vocabulary these days and how she is communicating. Children are simply amazing and you realize God's genius when you get the opportunity to raise one of these precious beings. In this picture Noelle had just asked me to put my lipstick on her. She saw me with it on the night before as Tj and I left for a date night. She noticed it in my purse went through my purse and found it. I walked her to the mirror and she was so excited to see it on herself.

Elle's Updates: Look who's TWO!!!

How is my sweet "Suga Mama" two years old in just two days?! On Sunday the 31st we will celebrate two years of this sweet little life! I skipped the last couple of months in updates to give you one big post on how our Nelly has been doing. The end of an era is here, I promise I won't say she's 24 months, she'll just be 2. I will still post her favorite things from time to time and what she's up to, (probably the interesting things coming out of her mouth) but there will no longer be monthly updates.

To say she is talking is an understatement, she won't stop!! She has several phrases under her belt, one of my favorites was "you wash your hair?". Her songs and dance moves are daily fixtures in our home and she now requests the songs by name, but not by official name. For instance, the wheels on the bus is "round and round". Noelle is super silly and loves clowning around. She loves helping with laundry and very often tells me she "wash clothes" with her Dad when I come home from work. I could not be prouder that Noelle knows the entire alphabet! We've been working on it for a while and she has for months been practicing pointing the letters out and her numbers.

Noelle loves bath time and hates when it's time for me to actually bathe her. Books are still one of her favorite things and she is constantly asking to be read to. Eating is definitely more challenging as she has become much more picky. She could eat french fries for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast is definitely her favorite meal, she wakes up with pancakes, bacon and sausage on the brain (mama's girl).

Elle's 19 & 20 Month Update

Say it with yo chest!!! Someone is saying no with all kinds of chutzpah these days, like she really means it or else. Well ma'm you've got the right kind of parents for that, hmmmm! Discipline has been the name of the game over here at the Hazley household. We are overjoyed for the terrific two's, and I've been hearing a lot lately that having threenager is even more exciting! Noelle is finding new ways to communicate with us everyday, she repeats everything which keeps us on our best behavior. We are constantly calling each other's attention to what she's doing. She is so entertaining and dancing has been her passion for the last couple of months. She gets down to the beat of her own drum, no music required. She is a little dancing queen in the making and I am loving it.

Elle's 17 & 18 Month Updates

Didn't your Mother ever tell you to be nice to the people who serve you food? Why yes, yes she did! Noelle will get this lesson sooner that later. I have no idea why my child dislikes wait staff so much but she is not into them. I try so hard not to laugh because we know as soon as they come over to greet us, she's going give them a hefty dose of "you can't sit with us" vibes.

We've got ourselves a phone talking, stroller climbing, pretend snapping, dancer on our hands and I can't get over her blooming personality. This is such a fun age!! Along with all this fun definitely comes its frustrations. I never imagined this much discipline would play a roll at this stage. It may sound silly but for whatever reason, I had this idea I wouldn't have to tell her "no" until two years old. Well I could've been more wrong. For awhile there she was hitting herself in the face when she said "no", no clue where she got that from because no one hits her in the face but to date has stopped the violence (towards herself anyway). She tests her limits often, and the test usually comes in the form of a raised hand to me. Listen, we don't play those games and she's starting to get the rules. When I tell her she is not allowed to hit Mama, she will wave her hand in front of my face out of frustration. It is pretty hilarious! It bothers me when adults tell me she is "ok" after I correct her for trying to hit them. No, it's not ok for my child to hit you. She needs to be corrected and failing to do so will have her hitting you when she's five, which won't be so cute then!

She names every part of her face out loud and I will never get sick of hearing "eye-bra" (eyebrow)! Her favorite number is nine and we know this because when we count to ten, after eight she'll scream out NINE!!! Walking backwards is now a pass time and singing along to her favorite songs is always a treat, her current favorite being "if you're happy and you know it", though "itsy bitsy spider" will forever remain her favorite jam. She is FINALLY beginning to fit into toddler sizes which means I can buy her a new wardrobe (and not so much PINK)! It has taken forever to reach the 12 to 18 month clothing and with fall right around the corner, I have already begun gathering the cutest of outfits. Hoping to do a fall shoot soon so stay tuned :)
We have also reached the stage of repeating everything she hears so Mom and Dad are on their best behavior in the vocabulary department. Eating with a spoon is incredibly messy and drinking from a cup comes with lots of clean ups but that's what big girls do so we deal with the mess.
Her imagination never ceases to amaze me, pretending to talk on the phone, "heh-whoa" and drinking tea from her tea set.
She loves dogs though she is still very cautious of them and grocery shopping is definitely one of our favorite times together. I am in awe of watching this girl grow up!

Elle's 15 & 16 Month Update

We are a couple weeks behind but here it is! "No" and "stop", these are now her favorite words. Where did we go wrong? Lol! Noelle is a force to be reckoned with. After bath time is the WORST with her running away from us to avoid that dreaded baby massage that she gets every night. Poor her! The first picture is exactly the way she likes her room, with the floor full of books. Reading has quickly become one of her favorite things to do. She brings us books constantly, with usually the same 3 to 4 in rotation. As soon as the books get put away she's back to spilling them back on the floor.

Elle's 13 & 14 Month Update

It's been a long time since I've updated you on Ms. Nelly so before she turns 15 months next week here it is. I never imagined I'd say "No" and "Stop" so much EVER. I've read articles that say you shouldn't say no all the time and just redirect the child to the desired behavior. That sounds great and all but once you have redirected your child after 3 times, damn it, I'm saying NO. Noelle is so fun and I can't believe that I was ever sad about having a toddler. She is into everything of course and has so much more personality. Although I am so excited to hear her form sentences, I can wait, things are going fast enough. She's got 8 teeth with 4 molars on the way. She will try any food once and salmon may be her favorite food.
