EEEEeeekkkkkk!!! I am so excited to finally start sharing some of the work that will be done on this 1922 gem! After lots of waiting and some unforseen delays we were finally able to close on this bad boy yesterday. Demo starts today and I cannot wait to see this wall come down. In order to make this space feel more open we are getting rid of part of this wall and opening it up to the dining room. The kitchen is tiny so we had to be very strategic with our design. I have so enjoyed picking out every single detail of this kitchen! If you follow me on snap (mrshazleybaby), you've already gotten some exclusives!!!
I swore I would have an all white kitchen if we were able to get a fixer upper but we moved in a different direction and I am loving that direction. Tj was not at all excited about an all white kitchen and I definitely wanted him to love it as much as I did. Most of the kitchen has the original cabinetry and though some updates have been made we will only be able to salvage one cabinet that is brand new. We will use that cabinet for the basement renovations. So everything must go!!
We'll do some open shelving in the corner to the left of the stove. We are adding a hood and I am thrilled about the black stainless steel appliances. Tj really wanted to do something different and it was the first time I had heard about or seen black stainless steel and I feel in love with it. What's even more exciting is that we are going with the smart package from Samsung.
We've decided on gray cabinets, white and gray quartz countertops and a white subway tile backsplash. The faucet, cabinet knobs and pulls will have a copper finish. We are switching it up for the peninsula with a butcher block countertop, which will also match the wood for the open shelving. Because we are not going to have an traditional dining space we decided to create a dining area on the back of our peninsula as you can see in one of the inspiration images. As far as flooring, we discovered that the original wood flooring is underneath the current floors which we couldn't be more excited about.
Another really cool element that we hope works out is some exposed brick in the kitchen. We have a specialist coming in to find out whether or not it can be uncovered and refinished. We're so anxious to find out what the final verdict is!!!! Soooo….what do you think?
Happy Fri-Yay friends!!!
